his guide for instructors explains how you can change the order of questions on an assignment at any time, even after students have submitted and/or some grading has been completed.
In this guide:
How to reorder questions
When creating your assignment, each question had two elements to it to help Gradescope identify each question and student answer.
- The question's outline - a box that was drawn around the question and answer space on the uploaded template.
- The question details - a label and number of points associated with the question found on the right side panel.
To reorder these, follow these steps:
- Open the assignment and select Edit Outline.
- In the outline view, you'll see boxes representing each question. Each box will display the question's name and number.
- o change the order, drag and drop the question title in the side panel. This will change the order of the question but not the content. You must then also drag and move the question boxes into the new sequence you want.
- Select Save to apply the changes.
Reordering questions does not impact student submissions or existing grades.
After reordering questions
Grading is preserved. Any work you've already graded will remain attached to the correct question, even if its number changes. The Grading interface will reflect the updated question order to match your outline.
If you're matching the assignment layout to a different question template or correcting an initial setup, reordering is a quick way to do so without regrading.
Reordering questions does not automatically swap their positions on the submission view. Make sure the new order aligns with your intent and with any printed or digital templates you're using.
